McDermott Handcrafted Cues signs Tony Robles, the Silent Assassin, to Long-Term Contract
MENOMONEE FALLS, WI.—June 4, 2005. McDermott Handcrafted Cues has signed a long-term contract with Tony Robles. Robles, a former Player of the Year on the Tri-State tour an unprecedented four (4) years in a row, will be using a new McDermott cue in competition.
“Tony is a class act in every sense” says Claude Napier, President and CEO of McDermott. “He has extraordinary skills as a professional player and accomplished teacher, a strong record on the tour, and remarkable personal appeal to fans across the country. We feel that Tony will be a tremendous representative for McDermott.”
Tony Robles, nicknamed The Silent Assassin for his ability to resoundingly knock off top professionals in his quiet manner, counts among his career highlights the 113 ball run during the 1999 Straight Ball Championship in New York City. He also boasts a high run in straight pool of 267 balls. He is currently 4th in the United States Poolplayers Association rankings. Tony is also "player representative" at Amsterdam Billiards Club East, and is one of the best instructors in the world today.
“I like the hit of the McDermott cues and am looking forward to playing with them,” said Tony. “I was amazed at the manufacturing of the McDermott cues in the factory. The attention to detail and amount of expertise there is something to see.”
McDermott will be producing Robles Signature cues later this year for sales worldwide. The cues will have clean and classic lines as their “look.”
